Aeroméxico Launches Direct Flights to Punta Cana

Aeroméxico has officially inaugurated operations at Punta Cana International Airport (PUJ) with the launch of a new direct service from Mexico City, marking the airline’s 100th station worldwide. The new daily route strengthens air connectivity between Mexico and the Dominican Republic, further expanding Aeroméxico’s international footprint.

The inaugural ceremony was attended by aviation and tourism officials from both countries, who highlighted the significance of this milestone for bilateral tourism and trade. The service is expected to boost flight options for travelers while promoting cultural and economic exchange.

The route is operated with Boeing 737 aircraft, featuring Premier, AM Plus, and Economy cabins, along with onboard amenities such as Wi-Fi, individual entertainment screens, and Boeing’s Sky Interior lighting system. With an estimated capacity of 10,000 seats per month, this new service complements Aeroméxico’s existing flights to Santo Domingo.

Punta Cana International Airport, the busiest airport in the Dominican Republic, manages more than 60% of the nation’s air traffic. Known for its modern infrastructure and extensive connectivity, the privately owned hub receives flights from over 70 international cities.

“This new partnership between Aeroméxico and Punta Cana Airport marks the beginning of an exciting journey that will not only expand connectivity options for our passengers but also open new doors for tourism, business, and stronger ties between Mexico and the Dominican Republic,” said Giovanni Rainieri, Director of Airside Operations.

For Aeroméxico, the launch of this service represents more than just an operational milestone. Giancarlo Mulinelli, Senior Vice President of Global Sales, emphasized: “Reaching our 100th station is a testament to Aeroméxico’s strong commitment to the strategic expansion of our international network. Punta Cana is a key destination for our customers, and this new route significantly enhances connectivity between Mexico and the Dominican Republic. We are deeply grateful to the local authorities and airport for their support in making this important step a reality.”

The new Punta Cana route comes on the heels of Aeroméxico’s recently launched services to Panama and Cali, Colombia, underscoring the airline’s continued efforts to strengthen its regional presence in Latin America.

With this latest addition, Aeroméxico continues to reinforce its role as a leading carrier in the region, offering passengers more destinations, better connectivity, and a growing network that bridges cultures and economies across the Americas.
