JetSMART Expands Network with New Route from Santiago to Punta Cana via Colombia

JetSMART Airlines has announced its entry into the Caribbean market with a new route connecting Santiago, Chile, to Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic, with stops via Cali or Medellín. Beginning December 5, 2025, the ultra-low-cost carrier will operate this service three times a week, marking another milestone in its international expansion across Latin America.

Ultra Low-Cost Strategy for Greater Connectivity

The addition of Punta Cana brings JetSMART’s international network to nine markets, reaffirming its ultra-low-cost model built on affordable fares, a modern fleet, and the “pay only for what you use” philosophy. The new service is positioned as a key driver of tourism and cultural exchange between South America and the Caribbean.

Gabriela León, Country Manager of JetSMART Chile, described the new route as a strategic move that will “strengthen tourism and cultural exchange.” Verónica Pardo, Chile’s Undersecretary of Tourism, highlighted the initiative as a step toward “a more connected Latin America with greater flight frequency.”

More Connectivity from Colombia

From Colombia, JetSMART is expanding its footprint with direct flights to Punta Cana from both Medellín and Cali. Each of these routes will operate three times weekly, with services scheduled to begin between December 5 and 7, 2025. This expansion enhances regional connectivity and provides clear, punctual itineraries that link South America with the Caribbean more efficiently.

Benefits for Regional Tourism

The launch of the Santiago–Punta Cana route creates new opportunities for travel agencies, tour operators, and wholesalers, who will be able to integrate this connection into their vacation packages. Direct connectivity enables travelers to combine South American destinations with the Caribbean, diversifying tourism offerings and boosting competitiveness across the sector.

Innovation and Steady Growth

JetSMART currently operates more than 80 routes across South America, with a presence in Chile, Argentina, Colombia, Peru, Brazil, Ecuador, Paraguay, and Uruguay. With the addition of Punta Cana, the airline underscores its commitment to sustainable growth by offering competitive fares while efficiently linking strategic markets.

This latest move positions JetSMART not only as a key player in regional aviation but also as a facilitator of greater cultural and economic integration across Latin America and the Caribbean.
